Frequently Asked Questions

I have an interior designer. Would you work with them?

Yes. If you already have an interior designer, I would be happy to help bring their vision into reality.

How long have you been in business?

I have been in business for over 23 years. However I have been creating murals and faux/decorative finishes since 1990.

I don’t have an interior designer. Do I need one?

No, if all you want is painting. I can work with you directly especially if you already have an idea of what you want. Or I can recommend a designer if you need more than just painting.

How long in advance do I need to start this process?

This will depend on if you have a deadline (ex. baby's birth), a contractor or you just want to plan in advance. The sooner we start planning, the process can be scheduled to yours or the contractors' needs.

What kind of paints do you use?

In home, I use all water based products which will dry quickly with relatively little smell although some specialty items will have a stronger smell (ex. crackle materials). On canvas or board, I use a wide variety of mediums including acrylic, oil, gemstones, other mixed media and or found objects.

Do you work with other people?

Most of the time I work by myself. I tend to only use help when I need something special (ex. holding my ladder)

Does my furniture have to be painted in my home?

For the most part yes. There are some exceptions (ex. small pieces - kid's chair) Plus many times furniture can be too big to move and I need to paint it in place so that I know it works with the coloring, lighting and decor in the space.

Do you have a specific style?

When painting artwork in a home or business, I try to recreate what you want in whatever style you want. On canvas or board, I use a lot of mixed media and misch technique to create more open visionary, spiritual, representational and unusual looks.

Do you paint base coats?

I can and may have to for specialty finishes. Otherwise it's okay to use your regular house painter. I would just give them the color (# or sample swatch of color for the to get matched in the paint store), the sheen and kind of paint for them to use. Some finishes don't require a base coat.

What hours do you work?

I'm not a morning person so I tend to arrive later (after rush hour - 10:30am approx.) and leave later (6-7pm) This applies only to in person painting.
